Snake Temple Celebration

The “Fire Watching” ceremony is a traditional ceremony to predict the economy outlook of Penang. The special prayer is also conducted to commemorate the birthday of Cheng Chooi Chor Soo Kong Deity of the temple which falls on 13 February. The ceremony is an annual event that attracts dedicated devotees not only from Penang but also Indonesia and Thailand to this famous Snake Temple which was formerly known as Ban Ka Lan in Hokkien. Besides the Fire Watching ceremony, devotees and visitors will also be entertained by various cultural dances, food stalls, exhibitions and exciting performances.
