The Asia Pacific Masters Games 2018 opening ceremony will be held on 8 Sept 2018 at the Esplanade Field (Padang Kota Lama), a seafront location at the heart of the George Town UNESCO World Heritage Site.
The field is adjacent to Fort Cornwallis, the spot where the British Empire’s Captain Francis Light, the founder of George Town, first landed in 1786. He subsequently built a fort at the location, and the entire area has now become a top attraction and hang-out spot for locals and tourists alike.
The Asia Pacific Masters Games 2018 closing ceremony will be held on 15 Sept 2018 at the SPICE Convention Centre in Bayan Baru, Penang.
The ceremony itself will take place on the Roof Garden Gallery of the iconic building, which was opened in 2017. The SPICE Convention Centre and the adjacent SPICE Arena serves as Penang’s main indoor sports centre as well as the preferred venue within the city-state for meetings, incentives, conferences and exhibitions.
