Chinese New Year is celebrated on the first day of the Lunar Calendar with each year ushering in a zodiac animal ruling sign. 2017 is the year of the Rooster. As Penang is the home of a sizable Chinese population, Chinese New Year is one of the most significant celebrations here. Celebrations usually start on the eve of Chinese New Year where family members gather for a Reunion Dinner to enjoy traditional Chinese delicacies. Public is invited to be part of the celebration by attending the Chief Minister’s Chinese New Year Open House on 28th January at SPICE Arena.
